Indonesia has started expanding its coconut export to China, marking a new milestone in agricultural trade between the two countries. The first shipment of Indonesian fresh coconuts arrived in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China, highlighting the growing demand for Indonesian coconut products in international markets.

The opening of the Chinese market began after the Chinese customs authority approved the import of fresh coconuts from Indonesia in late 2024. This policy allows Indonesian exporters to supply coconuts that meet China’s import standards and quality requirements.

As the Indonesia coconut export to China continues to grow, domestic coconut prices have also increased. Higher export prices encourage many traders and suppliers to prioritize international markets, where demand and profit margins are significantly higher.

According to market observations, coconut prices in several Jakarta markets have risen during April 2025. The average price of coconuts in the Kramat Jati main market reached around Rp13,700 per kilogram, with some areas recording prices close to Rp20,000 per kilogram.

Government officials and industry players are currently discussing strategies to maintain balance between export opportunities and domestic supply. The goal is to ensure that coconut farmers, exporters, and local markets can all benefit from the expanding international demand.

The increase in Indonesia coconut export to China reflects the strong global demand for Indonesian coconuts. With abundant plantations and experienced exporters, Indonesia continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading coconut suppliers.
